Hello world...!!!
I am Rizki Zul Arfandi. My friends used to call me Zul. I live in Semarang, Indonesia. I study in SMA 3 Semarang, and this is my last year. Hohoho...

There are so many interesting place that you can visit in my country. One of them is Tugu Khatulistiwa (or, "Equatorial Pole") in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

The history of Tugu Khatulistiwa started at 1928, when several Dutch experts held an international expeditions to locate the equatorial point in Pontianak. After they found it, they built a pole which has arrow shape in it's top. It shows that Pontianak is passed by Equator Line.

At 1930, a circle shape was being added to it's top. Eight years later, the pole was perfected by an architect, Silaban. He added 4 new poles with belian woods.

At 1990, it was totally renovated with the development of a dome and a duplicate of the pole, 5 times larger than the origin. The inauguration of the pole happened at September 21st, 1991 by Mr. Pardjoko Suryokusumo, governor of West Kalimantan at that time.

At the bottom of the pole, there are 2 important parts : a banner to show the pole's point in 109 degrees 20'00" OLVGR in eastern longitude degree, and a line, which represented by many floors with different colors. When the sun's culmination happens, all things around this place don't have shadow, because it perpendicular with the sun.

To proof that this pole is at equator line, you can come to this place at March 21st-23rd or September 21st-23rd. At that time, when the sun is above our head, the shadow of our body, the pole, and erect things around the pole are invincible. It sounds interesting, doesn't it?
